Alexandria, LA (3/5/2023) – Citizens who pay the City of Alexandria Utilities, listen up!! Tomorrow!! Tomorrow!! MONDAY, MARCH 6th, 2023.
The application process for RESTOR, the utility assistance program for people who qualify for utility assistance on their COA utility bill, begins tomorrow.
We asked several times of the City of Alexandria’s Administration to provide us with a copy of this program to review to give our readers and followers the best opportunity to apply and get assistance.
Councilman Gary Johnson provided us a copy of the “THE CITY OF ALEXANDRIA RELEASES RESTOR FAQ” press release to review on Thursday, March 5, 2023, because he wanted as many people as possible to receive assistance. Councilmen Lee Reubin, Jim Villard, and Councilwoman Lizzy Felter also provided helpful information.
Please be ready to apply as soon as the application opens online because funds are limited.
Commentary: The dependence of our city’s operational and capital budget on the profits (earnings after expenses are paid) of utilities is outdated. It is not how a modern city draws industry and develops. But to be overcharging the hardworking people in that process is a tragedy.
Let’s hope this administration continues to look for ways to lower that burden on the people. Let’s also make sure the City doesn’t continue to overcharge us in the name of “market rate” again and lower the cost of utilities for good.
