ALEXANDRIA, La. (UrbanCast: 10/14/2026) — New arrest records reveal serious felony charges following Tuesday’s hijacking of an Alexandria ATRANS transit van.
Danny L. Slaughter, 52, faces aggravated kidnapping, armed robbery, and felony firearm possession charges following his arrest by Monroe Police.
According to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Office, Slaughter’s combined bond totals $776,000.
Authorities set bond at $500,000 for aggravated kidnapping and $200,000 for armed robbery. Additionally, the firearm possession charge carries a $75,000 bond.
A misdemeanor driver’s license violation accounts for the remaining $1,000.

Driver and Passengers Forced to Monroe
According to the Alexandria Police Department (APD), Slaughter boarded an ATRANS van around 1:10 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said he threatened the driver and two passengers, forcing them to travel from Alexandria to Monroe against their will.
Upon reaching Monroe, the driver and one passenger escaped. However, the second passenger remained aboard until Monroe Police stopped the vehicle and detained Slaughter.
APD confirmed that all three victims escaped without reported physical injuries.
Individuals close to the situation previously told UrbanCast that Slaughter boarded the van with a firearm.
The newly released charges include unlawful firearm possession. However, available records do not establish whether officers recovered a weapon.
The first page of the Monroe Police arrest affidavit does not provide the detailed circumstances supporting each charge.
The allegations remain pending, and Slaughter is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
UrbanCast continues following the investigation and the public safety questions surrounding Tuesday’s hijacking.
Editor’s note: APD identifies the suspect as Slaughter. Ouachita Parish records spell the surname Staughter. UrbanCast is using APD’s spelling pending clarification.
