Colfax Man Arrested in Multi-Parish Pharmacy Burglary Investigation

LECOMPTE, LA (7/2/2025) — A months-long investigation into a series of pharmacy burglaries across central and southern Louisiana has led to the arrest of a Colfax man, who authorities believe may be connected to multiple crimes in several jurisdictions.

On August 12, 2024, Sheriff’s Detectives and Crime Scene Investigators with the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office were contacted by the Lecompte Police Department regarding a burglary at a local pharmacy. Initial findings revealed that a suspect had removed the glass from the front door to gain entry around 2:30 AM. Security footage showed a male approximately 6 feet tall, wearing glasses, a black hoodie, black facemask, black shorts over black tights, and black shoes. The video captured the suspect placing bottles of medication into a black garbage bag before fleeing.

As the investigation unfolded, multiple law enforcement agencies across Louisiana noted similar burglaries in their regions. A significant breakthrough occurred on May 7, 2025, when Jonesville Police conducted a traffic stop just minutes after an attempted burglary at a nearby pharmacy. The information obtained during that stop helped law enforcement identify a suspect.

Working in collaboration, detectives and officers from the Oakdale Police Department, Jonesville Police Department, Catahoula Parish Sheriff’s Office, Pine Prairie Police Department, Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office, Lecompte Police Department, and the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office compared video footage, surveillance photos, and intelligence.

Their efforts led to the identification of Kevin Dejuan McKinney, 41, of 425 Eleanor Street, Colfax, LA. On June 3, 2025, McKinney was arrested on active warrants issued by the Jonesville Police Department and RPSO. He remains in custody on a $41,000 bond.

Multiple Charges

Kevin Dejuan McKinney faces multiple charges, including two counts of simple burglary, criminal trespass, and criminal damage, all filed by the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office. He is also listed as a Louisiana fugitive on both felony and misdemeanor charges from the Jonesville Police Department. In addition, McKinney is being held on a parole violation.

Sheriff’s Detectives say the case is still an active investigation and more arrests are possible. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Detective S. Hanks at the Main Office Criminal Investigation Division (318-473-6727), the RPSO Main Office (318-473-6700), or Crime Stoppers (318-443-7867).

RPSO expressed gratitude for the interagency cooperation that helped bring McKinney into custody, thanking all participating departments for their coordinated efforts.
