Motorcyclist Tragically Killed in Rapides Parish Crash on Louisiana Highway 488 (Twin Bridges Road)

Rapides Parish, LA (10/29/2024) – A motorcyclist tragically killed in a Rapides Parish crash on Louisiana Highway 488 has been identified as 32-year-old Jacob Strange of Forest Hill.

Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to the two-vehicle collision on October 28, 2024, at around 4:22 p.m. at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 488 and Highway 1199.

Initial investigations indicate that Strange, driving a 2007 Honda motorcycle, was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed. As he attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone, Strange re-entered the lane and collided with a westbound Toyota Camry, which was turning onto Highway 1199.

Sadly, Strange did not survive the impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Toyota, who was wearing a seatbelt, was unharmed.

This heartbreaking incident serves as a reminder to all motorists, particularly motorcyclists, to observe road safety rules. Speed limits and no-passing zones exist to protect everyone on the road, especially those most vulnerable, like motorcyclists and bicyclists. Motorcyclists are urged to exercise caution and follow all traffic rules, as speeding and risky maneuvers can be life-threatening.

For drivers of larger vehicles, it’s essential to always be alert and watch for motorcyclists and bicyclists who share the road. A single moment of awareness can prevent a tragedy and protect the lives of everyone involved.

As the investigation continues, Louisiana State Troopers emphasize the importance of mutual respect and caution among all road users. In honor of those who have lost their lives, let’s all commit to safer, more considerate driving habits to keep our roads safe.
