Cheneyville, LA (10/1/2024) – On September 16, 2024, three men were arrested for a Cheneyville shooting after Patrol Deputies responded to reports of gunfire on Boeuf Ave.
Deputies arrived to find two victims with gunshot wounds, who had already been transported to a local hospital.
The Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, alongside Cheneyville PD, secured the scene. Detectives determined the incident stemmed from an altercation between two groups, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries.
Detectives identified the suspects as Elias Lamar Perry, 19, Melvin D. Pye Jr., 29, both from Alexandria, and Makal Rashawn Neal, 24, from Pineville. All three were arrested on September 17, 2024, after warrants were issued.
Perry faces charges of obstruction of justice, criminal conspiracy, and attempted second-degree murder. He remains in custody on a $310,000 bond. Pye Jr. and Neal were both charged with attempted second-degree murder. Pye Jr. was released on a $250,000 bond, while Neal remains in jail on a similar bond.
