LDWF to Hold National Hunting and Fishing Day Events at Four Locations Across Louisiana, Including Cenla’s Event in Woodworth

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) will host National Hunting and Fishing Day events at four locations across the state this Saturday, September 28, 2024. Celebrated every fourth Saturday of September since the early 1970s, this tradition highlights Louisiana’s outdoor pastimes and conservation efforts.

The Woodworth Shooting Range in Cenla will feature the largest event in the state, typically attracting more than 2,000 guests. With the weather forecast looking great, LDWF expects a large turnout. This family-friendly event will host over 40 exhibits, offering a variety of activities, including shooting ranges, fishing ponds, and live animal demonstrations. Attendees can also explore LDWF’s research and conservation exhibits, alongside organizations like Ducks Unlimited and the Safari Club.

In addition to Woodworth, National Hunting and Fishing Day events will take place at:

  • Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge, Monroe (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.)
  • Waddill Wildlife Refuge, Baton Rouge (8 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
  • Bodcau WMA, Haughton (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.)

The National Hunting and Fishing Day events provide an excellent opportunity for families to enjoy the outdoors, learn new skills, and participate in hands-on demonstrations. Visitors can experience Louisiana’s rich wildlife and conservation efforts firsthand at these exciting, community-centered events.
