Bridge City, LA (6/23/2024) — At approximately 12:40 p.m. today, deputies from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to an incident in the 200 block of 10th Street where a four-month-old boy was attacked by a family member’s dog.
Sheriff Joseph Lopinto reported that the child was in an infant carrier placed on the floor shortly after entering the residence with his family. The dog, a two-year-old American Bully, immediately attacked the infant. A family member managed to pull the dog away.
The infant was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, which include multiple lacerations and a fractured skull. The injuries are considered serious.
Animal Control officers have seized the dog. Further details about the incident are currently unavailable as the investigation is ongoing.
