Tragic Crash Claims Life of Motorcyclist at Intersection of Lee Street and Lakeside Drive

Alexandria, LA (4/1/24) – The Alexandria community was shaken by a devastating accident on Monday, April 1, 2024, as authorities responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV at the intersection of Lee Street and Lakeside Drive.

The Alexandria Police Department (APD) rushed to the scene, joined by other first responders including the Alexandria Fire Department, Rapides Fire District #2, Louisiana Department of Transportation, an ambulance company, and a towing company. The intersection buzzed with activity as emergency personnel worked tirelessly to assess the situation and provide assistance.

Preliminary investigations indicated that the tragic incident occurred when the SUV failed to yield while turning onto Lee Street from Lakeside Drive. Both drivers involved in the collision were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. Tragically, the driver of the motorcycle, identified as 29-year-old Anthony James of Alexandria, LA, succumbed to his injuries.
