65-Year-Old Leesville Man Struck and Killed by Train on North 6th Street

LEESVILLE, La. (3/29/2025) – A pedestrian struck by a train in Leesville has died, according to the Leesville Police Department.

On March 29, 2025, at approximately 2:56 p.m., officers responded to a call near the North 6th Street overpass.

The initial investigation revealed the 65-year-old man was walking along the tracks when the southbound CPKC train struck him.

Emergency personnel attempted life-saving measures at the scene. Despite their efforts, the man died from his injuries.

Leesville Fire Department, Med Express, Acadian Ambulance, and the Vernon Parish Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.

The man was identified as a local Leesville resident, though his name has not been released.

Authorities urge everyone to avoid walking on or near train tracks. It is dangerous and against the law.

Always cross at designated areas and stay alert around all railways.
