57 Arrests Made in Alexandria Joint Policing Operation: Drugs, Firearms, and Cash Seized

Alexandria, LA (8/10/2024) – The Central Louisiana Violent Crimes Abatement Team (CENLA/VCAT) has completed a rigorous two-day joint crime suppression detail in Alexandria, involving multiple law enforcement agencies.

This collaborative effort included Louisiana State Police, Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office, Alexandria Police Department. Other agencies that participated were Louisiana Probation and Parole, the FBI, and the ATF.

Residents noticed an increase in police activity earlier in the week, with heavy patrols and even a helicopter surveying areas like Houston and Wise Streets. More police visibility was evident along North MacArthur Drive, Enterprise Road, Monroe, and Tennessee Streets. The Alexandria joint policing operation saw vehicles pulled over and buildings surrounded as officers searched for specific individuals.

These heightened efforts yielded significant results: Officers made 57 arrests, seized multiple firearms, and confiscated drugs including cocaine, marijuana, and methamphetamine. Additionally, they seized over $8,000 in cash.

LSP said, this Alexandria joint policing operation demonstrates the community’s proactive stance against crime, aiming to enhance neighborhood safety. The Louisiana State Police encourages the public to report suspicious or criminal activity via their secure online form at lsp.org.
