21-year-old man shot and killed on East Sycamore Street

Alexandria, LA (1/1/2024) – The Alexandria Police Department (APD) reported that a young man was shot and killed on East Sycamore Street; police did not give details on a potential suspect.

Another loving caring mother has to yet again face the reality of beginning a New Year without her only son. On Sunday, December 31, 2023, at approximately 8:50 PM, APD responded to the 2200 block of East Sycamore Street about an individual suffering from a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, responding APD Officers located Tre’Wande “Cordell” Vallery, 21, of Alexandria, Louisiana, deceased.

Tre’Wande’s Mother said, “My only Son.”

A friend of Tre’Wande’s Mother said:

“My heart hurts for you, baby! I KNOW the conversations we had when you moved back from Texas! I felt the motherhood and the desperation in your voice, and I remember what you were saying! I can’t forget it, and now I keep thinking of it and how you were only thinking of him and his well-being! You keep saying I “wanna” save mine…..by ANY means, and I felt that.”

Although it happened in 2023 this is not the way we want to start off as a community. Let this be the end of the madness of gun violence that has struck our city. This mother was there for her son, she wanted nothing but the best for her son and her family, and she did everything for this to not be the outcome and yet it still happened to  her only son. He will never be here in physical form to enjoy 2024. No family should have to go through this. Especially to begin a New Year. Our deepest Sincerest condolences to his mother and siblings and friends and family.
