Gonzales, LA (May 20, 2024) — According to Sheriff Bobby Webre, detectives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested 17-year-old Keelan Irvin Jr. of Gonzales on Tuesday, May 15, 2024, following an investigation into two separate shooting incidents.
Irvin faces multiple charges, including six counts of attempted second-degree murder, two counts of negligent injuring, seven counts of aggravated criminal damage to property, and two counts of illegal use of weapons.
The second incident occurred on Sunday, May 12, at approximately 1:00 a.m. Deputies responded to reports of shots fired near a mobile home community along South St. Landry Ave. in Gonzales. Upon arrival, they discovered a vehicle that had been struck by gunfire while occupied by six individuals. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Through their investigation, detectives identified Keelan Irvin Jr. as the shooter, learning that he and the victims had been involved in a physical altercation prior to the shooting. An arrest warrant was executed, and Irvin was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
Further investigation revealed Irvin’s involvement in a shooting that occurred days earlier on Friday, May 10, at an event hall on Airline Highway near Commerce Lane in Prairieville. Two victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries in this incident. Following the investigation, another arrest warrant was issued, and Irvin was rebooked into the Ascension Parish Jail.
Both incidents are part of ongoing investigations, and further details may be limited at this time.
