Tioga, LA (4/19/2024) – On April 19, 2024, at approximately 8:46 AM, a concerning incident unfolded at Tioga High School, prompting swift action from the Deputy School Resource Officer.
Responding to a report of a student allegedly brandishing a firearm in the parking lot, the school’s administration and law enforcement were alerted to the potential danger.
According to initial reports, a student, while seated in their vehicle, was approached by another student who allegedly pointed a handgun at them. The alarmed student wasted no time in reporting the incident to school authorities, prompting an immediate response from the School Resource Officer.
The suspect, later identified as 17-year-old Ryan Lee Reynolds Jr. of Pineville, was swiftly located and apprehended without further incident. Following an initial investigation, deputies and detectives discovered a firearm inside Reynolds Jr.’s vehicle, corroborating the seriousness of the allegations.
Ryan Lee Reynolds Jr. was subsequently placed under arrest and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Notably, a recent change in the law allowed for Reynolds Jr., as a 17-year-old, to be processed and detained in accordance with the gravity of the charges. He faces charges of aggravated assault with a firearm and carrying a firearm on school property.
