15-year-old kills an 18-year-old while in New Orleans Saturday night after the Bayou Classics Football Game; victim & suspect are from Baton Rouge, NOPD says

New Orleans, La. (11/27/2022) – New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) officers arrested a 15-year-old juvenile on second-degree murder charges stemming from an incident that occurred the previous evening in the 700 block of Canal Street.

Just after 8:30 p.m. on November 26, 2022, NOPD Eighth District officers were notified of a reported shooting at the location and learned that a male victim (black male DOB: 05/22/2004) had been shot multiple times and was transported via EMS to a local hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.  

Through investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives developed and positively identified the juvenile suspect as the perpetrator in this incident. The reported perpetrator is a known 15-year-old old juvenile who has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder, illegal carrying of weapons, and illegal possession of a handgun by a juvenile.

The victim and suspect in this incident are from the Baton Rouge metropolitan area.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim and the exact cause of death.
