Zachary, LA (7/29/2023) – The Zachary Police Department (ZPD)reported an 18-year-old female was shot and killed on Friday, July 28, 2023.
At approximately 8 pm the ZPD responded to a shooting. The shooting occurred at the corner of New Weis Road and Lee Street.
Makayla Moore, 18, was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to ZPD, there are currently two suspects.
“We are aware of the unfortunate increase in crime in our City and in the particular neighborhood where this fatal shooting occurred. Our Department is not only committed to solving crimes but creating and implementing plans to decrease crime” said Darryl Lawrence, Sr., Zachary Chief of Police. “The safety of our City and residents is my top priority” continues Chief Lawrence.
