Winnfield, LA – The Winnfield Police Department (WPD) confirmed shots were fired in the 700 Block of MLK Drive.
The shots occurred on Wednesday, January 25, 2023, around 2:40 pm. Winnfield Primary School, located approximately a half mile away, was on a soft lockdown. Out of an abundance of caution, two sheriff deputies were dispatched to the school.
WPD said no arrests had been made regarding the shooting incident.
A resident near the 700 Block of MLK Drive said she was sitting in her car when a bullet struck and damaged her car, and she was also concerned about the safety of children walking home after school.
