Alexandria, LA (7/20/2022) – According to Ms. Linda Burgess and Mr. Willard “Bubba” McCall, Mr. Barrios plans to bring the hair policy issue to the executive committee on Monday, July 24, 2023, at 12:30 pm.
Mr. Mark Dryden, author of the motion to change the policy back to only allowing natural hair colors pulled the motion from the committee meeting agenda on July 18, 2023.
The Rapides Parish School Board voted 7 to 2 in May to amend its hair policy to allow students and parents to choose any hair color a student wanted. The previous policy only allowed natural-colored hair described as black, brown, auburn, or blonde.
The executive committee members are Mr. Wilton Barrios, Jr., Ms. Linda “Gram” Burgess, and Mr. Willard “Bubba” McCall.
