Alexandria, LA (July 15, 2024) – The Greater Alexandria Economic Development Authority (GAEDA) Board of Commissioners is set to hold its committee and regular meetings on Tuesday, July 16, 2024. These meetings will take place at The Hotel Bentley in the Bayou Roberts Room, located at 200 Desoto Street, Alexandria, LA 71301.
Committee Meetings Agenda
The committee meetings will commence at 8:00 a.m. The Executive, Administration, and Legal Committee, chaired by Mr. Greg Upton, will review and recommend the approval of the financial statements for April, May, and June 2024. Public comments are welcomed on these items.
Following this, the Governmental Relations Committee, chaired by Mr. John Carroll, and the Capital Projects Committee, chaired by Mr. Ronald Morgan, will both open the floor to public comments.
The Economic Development Committee, chaired by Dr. Curtis Lewis, will deliberate on a grant request from Peak Fighting Championship for $10,000, intended for advertising and marketing of the PFC 41 event scheduled for November 16, 2024. The committee will also discuss GAEDA’s funding process, covering grant requests and intergovernmental agreements.
The Operations & Human Resource Committee, chaired by Mrs. Paula Katz, will also invite public comments.
Regular Meeting Agenda
The regular meeting will follow at 8:15 a.m., starting with routine agenda items such as the Call to Order, Invocation, Pledge of Allegiance, Roll Call, and approval of previous meeting minutes. Active items on the agenda include:
- Approval of the July 2024 Consent Agenda.
- Approval of financial statements for April, May, and June 2024.
- Approval of the minutes from the June 12, 2024, Special Call Meeting.
- Approval of a cooperative endeavor with the Alexandria Convention & Visitors Bureau, not exceeding $15,000 for meals and advertising, and $5,000 for fireworks for the Future Farmers of America Conference.
- Approval of a grant request from Peak Fighting Championship.
- Discussion on GAEDA’s Legislative Authority.
The meeting will conclude with comments from the Executive Director, Commissioners, and Legal Counsel, followed by an Executive Session to discuss strategy sessions, prospective litigation, and negotiations.
Public comments will be entertained at various points in the meeting, with the floor open to questions before adjournment.

The GAEDA Board of Commissioners encourages public participation and invites community members to share their insights and comments during the meetings. Comments are limited to three minutes per person.
