Threat Prompts Closure of Jennings High School

Jennings, LA (4/15/2024) — The Jennings Police Department (JPD) has issued a call for assistance in identifying and locating a subject believed to pose an external threat to Jennings High School.

The individual in question is considered armed and dangerous. Authorities urge anyone who spots this individual not to approach but to contact the Jennings Police immediately at 337-821-5500 ext. 500.

In response to the potential danger, Jennings High School has taken precautionary measures, including the closure of the campus for the day.

The school posted a message on their Facebook page alerting the community to the situation:

“Due to an external threat on campus this morning, JHS will not have school today. Police are at the school and it is currently under investigation. We will update everyone as we get more information. Jennings Elementary will have school as planned.”

Law enforcement officials are actively investigating the incident, and police presence has been heightened at the high school as part of their ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and security of students and staff.
