The First Alexandria Lions Club Branch Strides for Diabetes Family Fun Day

Alexandria, LA (11/6/2023) – The Alexandria Lions Club Branch held its first Diabetes Family Fun Day on Saturday, November 4th.

November is National Diabetes Month, a time when communities nationwide seek to bring attention to diabetes, so what a perfect weekend and event to kick start national diabetes month.

Diabetes affects about 37 million Americans, including adults and children. Some of us are personally dealing with this disease, while others are the support system. Whether you are the one affected or you are here in support of a friend or family member, we thank you! We see you. And we stand by you in the fight for a cure for diabetes.

Proceeds from the event will be sent for diabetes research and to the Louisiana Lions Camp in Anacoco, specifically to help with medicine and supplies for the week dedicated to kids with Type 1 diabetes.

This camp provides an opportunity for youth ages 6 to 14 who live with Type 1 diabetes to learn about their disease and get to know others who face the same challenges.  The overall goal of the camp is to provide a safe, highly supervised recreational experience for children with diabetes.
