Miami Beach, FL (11/19/2023) – According to the Miami Beach Police Department (MBPD), the City of Miami Beach has imposed a state of emergency and an overnight curfew for South Beach.

MBPD said city officials decided after two people were shot and killed on Friday night and Early Sunday morning.
On Friday at 10:41 p.m., officers heard the sound of gunshots near 7 Street and Ocean Drive and found two males with gunshot wounds at 7 Street. Both males were transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Unit. One of the males died at the hospital, and the other is listed in critical condition.
On Sunday, March 19, at 3:29 a.m. Miami Beach Police officers heard gunshots near 11 Street and Ocean Drive and found one male with gunshot wounds along the 1000 block of Ocean Drive. The male was transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Unit, where he later died. A second victim was injured but treated and released on-site.
The curfew will be in effect on Sunday, March 19, from 11:59 p.m. until 6 a.m. on Monday, March 20, 2023, with separate emergency measures to be issued from Thursday, March 23, through Monday, March 27, 2023. Details of the curfew can be found by clicking this active link.
