State Fire Marshal arrest man for attempted murder and aggravated arson

Tangipahoa Parish, LA. (9/27/2022) – The State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFM) has arrested an Amite man for setting a fire inside his home during a domestic dispute while a woman and the couple’s toddler were inside.

Eddie Davis, 31, was booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail on two counts of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder and one count each of Aggravated Arson and Domestic Abuse Child Endangerment.

Nancy Tyler, 29, was also arrested on a charge of Simple Arson in connection with the incident.

Midday on Monday, September 26, Tangipahoa Fire District #1 responded to a report of a house fire located in the 56000 block of Bickham Chapel Road.

Firefighters learned the incident was the most recent in a day-long feud between the couple residing in the home that began with the woman setting the man’s clothes on fire outside earlier in the day.

Due to the case’s suspicious circumstances, the couple was detained on the scene, and State Fire Marshal (SFM) deputies were contacted to investigate.

After an assessment of the scene, deputies determined there were multiple intentionally set fires in and around the home, and Davis and Tyler were placed under arrest. Relatives took custody of the child.

The SFM thanks Tangipahoa Fire District #1 Fire Prevention Bureau for its partnership in quickly closing this case.
