Isle of Palms, SC (4/8/2023) – According to the Isle of Palms Police Department (IPPS), at least six people were shot on a beach at a “Senior High Skip Day” function.
IPPD responded to a shooting on the beach behind the Sea Cabins at around 5:20 pm EST, Friday, April 7, 2023. Multiple policing jurisdictions responded to the incident, including local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies.
Private autos and emergency ambulance services transported individuals to local hospitals. Several people were detained while police conducted their investigation for weapons-related charges. Police don’t know if the individuals detained were the actual shooters.
Police said that while managing two separate fights is when the shooting started.
A 16-year-old was arrested for possession of stolen firearm and unlawful carry of a fire and 18-year-old was arrested possession a firearm.
