Shreveport, LA (7/10/2023) – The Caddo Parish Coroner released the names of two men killed during a crash on North Market early Sunday, July 9, 2023.
Richard Whatley Jr., 53, driver, and his nephew Chris Whatley Jr., 28, of Vivian, Louisiana, were mortally injured in the crash just before 8:30 a.m. The older Whatley was pronounced deceased at the scene at 8:39 a.m., and the younger victim succumbed to his injury in the Ochsner LSU Health emergency room at 9:03 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation by the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Office, to which further media inquiries should be directed.
Autopsies were ordered for both victims.
