Alexandria, La. (9/16/2022) – 2020-22 has been hard for restaurants. Robbie G’s, located at 5859Jackson Street Extension, will shut its doors tonight at closing after being in business for 29 years.
A sharp decline in dining indoors, labor shortages, and the expense of providing takeout/pickup and delivery services have made keeping doors open a seemingly impossible challenge. In what is deemed the “restaurant apocalypse” by many in the food service industry, the shockwaves of the COVID-19 pandemic and the lack of an economic initiative in the City of Alexandria have affected restaurants along with many other local businesses.
