City of Alexandria Housing Rehabilitation Program

Alexandria, LA (3/21/2023) – The City of Alexandria’s Community Development Department will accept applications for the Housing Rehabilitation Program starting Monday, March 27, 2023, through Thursday, April 6, 2023. Funding is provided through the CDBG federal grant.

To apply for the Housing Rehabilitation Program, homeowners may apply in person at the Bolton Community Center: 315 Bolton Avenue from 9:00 am-1:00 pm or online at www.mygovernmentonline.org beginning Monday, March 27, 2023. Applicants will be given further instructions on completing their application once the initial inquiry has been received. Qualified applicants may be eligible for assistance for housing repairs as deemed feasible by the Community Development Department.

Residents that meet the criteria below, including being under the gross annual income limits, are eligible to apply. If you have received any type of assistance from Community Development in the last five years, you are ineligible to apply at this time. If you received assistance more than five years ago, you may apply; however, your application will be placed on a waiting list until those who have never received assistance are considered. Eligibility for the program does not guarantee rehabilitation assistance.

Applicants must:

  • Apply in person at the Bolton Community Center or online at www.mygovernmentonline.org starting on March 27, 2023.
  • Currently, OWN AND OCCUPY the home where assistance is being requested.
    • Any person applying on behalf of a homeowner must present legal power of attorney documentation at the time of application.
  • Meet the current HUD income limits for the number of people living in the house.
    • Provide proof of income for ALL persons over age 18 living in the household.
    • Acceptable proof of income includes: Earnings Statement, Benefit Award Letter, W2, or signed Income Verification from employer(s)
  • Provide a valid picture ID of each homeowner (s) listed on the property deed and/or mortgage.
  • Live in the Alexandria City limits.
  • Prior year awards, especially those awarded in the last five years, may affect eligibility.
