Registered Sex Offender Arrested on Multiple Charges of Child Sexual Abuse Material; Bond set at $1.4M

Beauregard Parish, LA (6/8/2024) — Detectives with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office, assigned to the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, have arrested Christopher Scott Culton, 42, of DeRidder, Louisiana, following a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The tip involved child sexual abuse material (CSAM) reportedly saved, shared, and/or uploaded to Snapchat.

During the investigation, detectives traced the illicit material to a Snapchat account associated with Culton. As a registered sex offender with the Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office, Culton was found to be in violation of his registration requirements due to his use of the social media account.

On May 15, 2024, Culton was initially arrested and charged with Failure to Register and Notify as a Sex Offender or Child Predator and two counts of Pornography Involving Juveniles. His bond was set at $175,000.

Further investigation led to the discovery of several electronic devices in Culton’s possession, which contained additional CSAM images. As a result, on June 7, 2024, Culton faced additional charges: 94 counts of Pornography Involving Juveniles, 19 counts of Pornography Involving Juveniles Under the Age of 13, and six counts of Sexual Abuse of Animals. The bond for these new charges was set at $1,445,000.

Culton remains in custody as the investigation continues. The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office emphasizes that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
