Alexandria, LA (11/22/2024) – Rapides Parish Schools performance scores rose to 83.0 in 2024, up from 80.8 in 2023, highlighting significant district-wide improvements.
Superintendent Jeff Powell credited students, educators, and the community for their dedication to fostering academic success and progress.
The district achieved a remarkable 19th-place ranking statewide in growth and 20th in the ACT index. The ACT index saw an impressive 8.8-point increase, with Peabody Magnet High showing an outstanding 8.3-point gain, reflecting its commitment to preparing students for college readiness and success.
Rapides Parish excelled in key indices, including a 0.8-point increase in the Strength of Diploma score and a 0.6-point improvement in the K-8 Assessment Index. While a few areas showed slight declines, the overall trend points to continued growth and achievement.
Peabody Magnet High stood out for maintaining high levels of student engagement and growth, earning recognition for its academic and extracurricular excellence. Schools like Bolton High, Lessie Moore, and D.F. Huddle demonstrated some of the most significant gains, with Lessie Moore Elementary growing 37 points over two years.
