Rapides Parish DA will not charge deputy for the death of Derrick J. Kittling

Alexandria, LA (4/6/2023) – Rapides Parish District Attorney Phillip Terrell cleared Rapides Deputy Rodney Anderson of fatally shooting Derrick J. Kittling during a traffic stop.

Terrell’s Thursday announcement exonerated Deputy Anderson from any criminal charges stemming from the November 6, 2022, traffic stop in which Mr. Kittling was killed.

In a letter addressed to Rapides Parish Sheriff Mark Wood, Terrell said, after a comprehensive review, the evidence overwhelmingly demonstrates that the action of Deputy Anderson was justified.

Louisiana State Police released a Critical Incident Briefing Video (CIBV) which includes a body-worn camera, dashboard camera, and bystander recording footage.
