Speculation among residents suggests that the focus of the meeting will center around Rapides Parish’s previous adoption of a sole provider model for ambulance transport. This model has sparked conversations and raised questions regarding the effectiveness and accessibility of emergency medical services within the parish.

A recent notice, posted on the Facebook page of Sean McGlothlin on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 9:22 am, announced the upcoming meeting. McGlothlin is the Police Juror representing District G. The notice listed the 14 members of the Ambulance Advisory Committee, including Chairman Dr. Paul Coreil and members such as Fookes, Allen, Basco, Carrera, Stanley, Seaman, Beauregard, Small, Branton, Glorioso, Pierce, Moreau, and Ms. Michiels.

According to a separate RPPJ Facebook post on Friday, April 26, 2024, at 3:14 pm, the creation of the committee was authorized by the Rapides Parish Police Jury on November 13, 2023. The committee was tasked with discussing ambulatory needs for the parish, receiving proposals, and making recommendations to the jury. In March 2024, the committee was formed, with Dr. Paul Coreil appointed as Chairman.
