Oakdale woman sentenced to five years hard labor for killing a bicyclist, jail time was suspended by the judge

Alexandria, La. (11/30/2022) – An Oakdale woman was sentenced to five years of hard labor with prison time suspended. Defendant received three years of supervised probation by Judge Greg Beard.

Lacy Jordan, 29, of Oakdale, Louisiana, pleaded guilty on October 27, 2022, to negligent homicide for the death of Taurus Walker, 50, in January 2020. In exchange for the guilty plea, the following charges were dismissed: expired license plate, improper window tinting, limitation of pass left, and hit and run, resulting in death.

Jordan was accused of causing Walker to be ejected from his bike and fleeing from the scene.

NOTE: On November. 7, 2012, Jordan hit and killed Jacob Simpson, 15, of Lecompte, Louisiana, on U.S. 165 with her car.

Jordan was sentenced to five years, with prison time suspended on November 30, 2022.

The prosecutor was Attorney Lea Hall.  Attorney Mike Small represented Jordan.
