NPSO: Chestnut man receives minor injuries in US-71 single-vehicle crash

Campti, La. (9/22/2023) -This morning, a Chestnut man received minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash on US-71 north of Campti according to the Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 2:50am, Natchitoches Parish Sheriffs Deputies, Louisiana State Police, Natchitoches Regional Medical Center EMS and Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection District #9 with rescue equipment responded to NATCOM 911 Center reports of a single-vehicle crash on US-71 north of Campti with possible injuries.

Deputies arrived on scene finding the sole-occupant of the vehicle suffering from minor injuries.

Deputies say a 19-year-old Chestnut man operating a 2012 Dodge pickup truck was traveling southbound on US-71 when for reasons still under investigation, exited the road on the left side traveling through a deep ditch. This action caused to vehicle to overturn coming to a rest on its top. The driver was assessed at the scene and released without transport to a medical facility.

Troopers assigned to LSP Troop-E Alexandria investigated the crash.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, sleepiness can result in crashes any time of the day or night, but three factors are most commonly associated with drowsy-driving crashes.
