Natchitoches Police Department to Enforce Juvenile Curfew

Natchitoches, LA (2/22/2024) – The Natchitoches Police Department (NPD) has announced its intention to strictly enforce the juvenile curfew ordinance within the city limits. The curfew prohibits individuals under the age of seventeen (17) from being in public areas between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m.

According to the ordinance, any juvenile found in public during these restricted hours will be issued a juvenile citation. Additionally, their parents or guardians will be required to collect them from the Natchitoches Police Department.

For repeat violations of the juvenile curfew law, parents or guardians will receive a summons to appear in City Court.

The Natchitoches Police Department aims to ensure compliance with the curfew ordinance to promote the safety and well-being of juveniles within the community.

Below are the juvenile hours of curfew within the Natchitoches Code of Ordinances:

Sec. 20-39. – Hours of curfew.

(a) It shall be unlawful for any person under the age of seventeen (17) years to be or remain in or upon any public street or thoroughfare or in any public place, within the city limits of the City of Natchitoches, between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. for any day prior to a school day and between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 5:00 a.m. for any day not prior to a school day, unless one of the exceptions under section 20-40 applies.

(b) A school day shall be any day on which the school in which the minor is enrolled, or would be enrolled if in school, holds classes.
