Cypress, LA (8/20/2023) – Natchitoches Parish Sheriff’s Office reported a grass fire along I-49 near Cypress.
At approximately 4:52 pm, Natchitoches Parish Sheriffs Deputies and Natchitoches Parish Fire Protection Districts #5 and #1 responded to reports of grass fires on I-49 between milepost 126-127 south of Cypress, according to the NPSO.
I-49 was shut down temporarily while firefighters contained the fire, which took approximately 30-40 minutes.
All lanes are open. Drive carefully and avoid distractions. Some smoke may still be in the area.
NPSO remind motorist not to throw cigarette butts out of vehicles.
