Mother and child killed in Caddo Parish Tornado

Shreveport, LA (12/15/2022) – According to the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office, a young mother and her son were killed in a tornado that struck the Keithville area Tuesday, December 13, 2022. The victims have been named by the Caddo Parish Coroner’s office.

Yoshiko A. Smith, 30, and Nikolus Little, 8, were recovered following the storm that struck Keithville at 4:49 p.m. The child was found in a wooded area at 10:55 p.m. The mother’s body was found under storm debris at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 14, 2022.

Autopsies for both decedents have been ordered.

Update: On December 14th, at 2:27 a.m., the missing mother was found deceased one street over from where her home was destroyed in the Pecan Farms area of Keithville, LA. She was located under debris caused by a tornado. First responders will continue to search the area for unknown victims. No one else has been reported missing as a result of the storm.

Update:  A young boy was found deceased in a wooded area of Pecan Farms, where his home was destroyed. Many first responders and search teams will continue searching for his mother. One more injury was reported after an adult male was transported to a local hospital. The extent of the injuries is unknown.

Caddo Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Lareta St. in Keithville’s Pecan Farms area after a tornado touched down. Several structures were damaged. Electrical lines and trees were also knocked down. One woman was transported to a local hospital with unknown injuries and two missing people. Caddo deputies, K-9 teams, firemen, and volunteers are searching through debris and the area for the missing people. Other Caddo deputies continue to check the welfare of citizens from house to house.
