LeCompte, La. (9/2/2022) – On August 8, 2022, the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office was asked by the Police Chief of Turkey Creek, Steven Ardoin to investigate his former Assistant Chief Christopher Lemaire about possible criminal activity involving traffic stops and narcotics investigations.

During the investigation, it was discovered that from February 2022 through July 2022, Lemaire made multiple traffic stops where malfeasance activity was present. It was also learned that Lemaire was conducting narcotics investigations outside of his jurisdiction.

As the investigations went on, Detectives were able to pinpoint approximately 10 violations of malfeasance during investigations conducted by Lemaire as an officer with Turkey Creek. Lemaire recently resigned from the Turkey Creek Police Department prior to this current investigation for policy violations.

Lemaire is currently employed with the Lecompte Police Department where he was taken into custody while on duty by the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office for warrants issued by the Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office malfeasance investigation.

Lemaire was subsequently extradited to the Evangeline Parish Jail where he was booked for ten counts of malfeasance in office and one count of possession of schedule II narcotics. His bond was set at $15,000.00. The investigation is still on going and more charges are possible.
