Alexandria, LA (7/1/2023) – Justice has finally come for the family and friends of Kevin Hammond, 18, of Pineville, Louisiana, who was tragically killed on Futrell Street. Mr. Hammond was found beside a car just before midnight on November 21, 2021. Mr. Hammond had been shot multiple times.
On April 28, 2022, Alexandria Police Department (APD) reported the arrest of an Alexandria man and a Colfax woman in connection to the murder of Mr. Hammond. Deltrevious Zyshon Conston, of Alexandria, Louisiana, was arrested Friday, April 22, 2022, and charged with one count of second-degree murder. On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, Charley Natija Brown, of Colfax, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder.
On May 5, 2022, APD reported the arrest of a third suspect in connection with the murder of Mr. Hammond. On May 2, 2022, detectives arrested Dexta Zayshawn Hall of Colfax for second-degree murder.
Deltrevious Conston pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of conspiracy to commit second-degree murder and was sentenced to 30 years in prison in October 2022. Charley Brown of Colfax pleaded guilty to the lesser offense of manslaughter on Monday, June 26, 2023. Brown will be sentenced on July 10, 2023. And on Thursday, June 29, 2023, Dexta Hall was convicted by a jury and found guilty of second-degree murder. Hall’s sentencing is scheduled for July 17, 2023.

5/5/2022 – Third Suspect Arrested for 2021 Futrell Street Homicide
Alexandria, La. (5/5/2022) – Alexandria police have made a third arrest in connection with the November 2021 death of Kevin Hammond, Jr., of Pineville.
On May 2, detectives arrested Dexta Zayshawn Hall, 23, of Colfax, on charges of second-degree murder. Detectives previously arrested 23-year-old Charley Natija Brown of Colfax on April 27 and 19-year-old Deltrevious Zyshon Conston of Alexandria on April 22 in connection with the murder. Each has been charged with second-degree murder.
Hammond, 18, was found dead on November 23, 2021, from multiple gunshot wounds in a wooded area off of Futrell Street.

4/28/2022 – Alexandria Man and Colfax Woman Arrested for 2021 Futrell Street Homicide
Alexandria, La. (4/28/2022) – Alexandria police have arrested Deltrevious Zyshon Conston and Charley Natija Brown in connection with the November 2021 death of Kevin Hammond, Jr., of Pineville.
Deltrevious Zyshon Conston, 19, of Alexandria, Louisiana, was arrested Friday, April 22, 2022, and charged with one count of second-degree murder. Conston’s bond is set at $525,500.
On Wednesday, April 27, 2022, Charley Natija Brown, 23, of Colfax, Louisiana, was arrested and charged with one count of second-degree murder. Brown’s bond is set at $500,000.
Hammond, 18, was found dead on November 23, 2021, from multiple gunshot wounds in a wooded area off of Futrell Street.
Chief Howard of the Alexandria Police Department said, “We need our teens and young people to understand you can’t take back a bullet. Here we have three young adults whose lives have been destroyed – one lost his life, and the other will likely spend much of their lives in prison. Stay away from activities that can bring trouble your way, and when problems arise, reach for a peaceful solution, not a gun.”

11/24/2021 – Pineville teen murdered on Futrell Street, the second teen killed in less than two weeks in Alexandria, and the 31st homicide of the year
Condolences to the family and friends.
At approximately 11:50 p.m., Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021, the Alexandria Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle being driven off the road into the woods in the 4600 Block of Futrell Street.
Upon arrival, APD officers found a red Toyota sedan in the wooded area next to the road. Lying near the vehicle, they found 18-year-old Kevin Hammond Jr. of Pineville. Hammond had been shot several times, along with the vehicle. Alexandria detectives recovered numerous spent shell casings from the area. As of this time, there are no suspects in this shooting.
