Metairie, LA (4/22/2023) – Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office (JPSO) reported Deputies are investigating a fatal deputy-involved shooting that occurred tonight in Metairie.
Just after midnight on Saturday, April 22, 2023, deputies were at a residence in the 1700 block of Harvard Avenue looking for an adult male suspect wanted for questioning in an earlier incident. While the deputies were in the street outside the residence, the suspect arrived at the location in a vehicle. The suspect exited the vehicle and brandished a handgun.
The suspect pointed the firearm at the group of deputies, and at least one deputy fired at him.
The suspect was struck by gunfire multiple times. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment but later succumbed to his injuries.
