It’s a shame when one crisis begets another when you create another problem because of the failure to address another.

Is it an indictment on leadership?

Alexandria, LA (2/9/2023) – Homelessness in Alexandria, Louisiana, is at an all-time high. It has been and will continue to be one of the major issues facing any administration in Alexandria.

One remnant of homelessness is those affected by it taking up refuge on the park and city benches and bus stops. These stops typically provide cover to combat the elements for those using public transportation. These stops provide that same refuge for the homeless when public transportation stops running for the day.

For most, it is an eyesore. How to avoid it is a big question.

But making the elderly and special needs people who use public transportation suffer by standing for long periods or being exposed to the elements is unfair. It’s cold and thoughtless. And it only appeases those whose life is not affected by the circumstances the situation represents.

That’s the shame in it all.
