In the voice of Queen Latifah, “ooh, Ladies First, Ladies First”

Cenla (3/4/2023) – That’s right! Ladies first! Three girls’ teams in Cenla brought home the trophy yesterday in their respective divisions!

The Oak Hill Lady Rams brought home the state title with a decisive 74-54 win over JS Clark in the Division V State Title. It is the first state title for Oak Hill.

The Lady Warriors of Oakdale capped a fantastic season, winning it all by defeating Lakeview 53-48 to win its school’s first state title. Emani Young and her 17 points led to one of the most improbable championships runs in recent Cenla high school sports. It was a Young shot at the buzzer in the semifinals that advanced the Lady Warriors to the final. After another brilliant effort from Young, named MOP, and Kaylee Bradley added 14 points for Oakdale (18-12), The Lady Warriors completed a miraculous season.

The NorthWood-Lena Lady Gators had to go to double overtime and overcome being down by double digits to go back to back! After being down 18 points in the 3rd quarter, the Lady Gators somehow pulled it together to force overtime and eventually pull it out 54-51 over Southern Lab in double OT to pull off the back-to-back. Nyasia Moran earned Most Outstanding Player honors by scoring 18 points on 6-of-12 shooting and adding six rebounds.
