Houma, LA. (9/25/2022) – According to the Houma Fire Department, at approximately 6:14 pm on Saturday, September 24, 2022, the Houma Fire Department was dispatched to an emergency standby for an inbound aircraft to the Houma-Terrebonne Airport with mechanical issues and smoke in the cockpit.
There were six people onboard the flight. The helicopter crash-landed on the airport runway and slid into a grassy area but remained upright. Emergency units were on scene at the crash site within moments. Rescue crews evacuated all passengers and pilots from the aircraft. Some onboard reported injuries and were transported to a local hospital by Acadian Ambulance.
The crash site was secured. The incident is under investigation.
