Early Voting Issues Resolved in Alexandria City District #3 After Confusion Among Residents

Alexandria, LA (10/21/2024) – Several residents in the northern section of the Sonia Quarters experienced an early voting problem in Alexandria City District #3. On Saturday, multiple voters reported they were unable to vote for their candidate.

On Monday, one resident checked their voting information using the Geaux Vote App. The app revealed the voter was registered in District 2 instead of District 3.

This issue was confirmed by the Rapides Registrar of Voters staff, who then provided a temporary solution. Affected residents were offered absentee ballots to ensure they could still participate in the election. Registrar staff immediately contacted relevant parties at the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office to address the situation.

Around 4:00 PM on Monday, October 21st, UrbanCast received a message from the Secretary of State’s Office stating the problem had been resolved. Efforts are underway to ensure that no further issues arise for voters in District 3.

UrbanCast reached out to Cynthia Perry, the incumbent candidate, but received no response. However, “Uncle Willie” Chark, another candidate, expressed concern about voters not seeing his name or his opponent’s on the ballot, encouraging affected residents to request paper ballots and make their votes count. See Mr. Chark’s response:

UrbanCast encourages all voters to report any voting issues to their Parish Registrar of Voters Office to ensure full participation in this election.
