Drug Bust on Simmons Street: RADE Unit Arrests Alexandria Woman

Alexandria, LA (7/9/2024) – A drug enforcement operation led by the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) Unit culminated in the early morning arrest of 62-year-old Angie Kelly Strong on July 9, 2024.

The arrest followed a tip-off and prolonged surveillance at an alleged narcotics hub on Simmons Street.

The operation began in March 2024 when RADE received an anonymous Crime Stoppers tip about suspected drug activity at an abandoned house located at 2008 Simmons Street. The tip also suggested narcotics were being sold from the premises.

Agents expanded their investigation to include a nearby residence in the 2000 block of Simmons Street after identifying multiple suspects and obtaining search warrants for both locations.

Due to the close proximity of the targets, the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO) SWAT Team was deployed to execute the warrants simultaneously to ensure officer safety. While the search at the abandoned house turned up empty, the operation at the residence yielded a significant find.

Inside the residence, RADE agents discovered approximately 1 ½ pounds of methamphetamines along with digital scales and various packaging materials in the bedroom of Angie Kelly Strong. Strong, who was present during the search, was arrested without incident.

Notably, two juveniles were also found living in the residence, prompting an additional “Child Endangerment” modifier to Strong’s charges of Possession of CDS II (Methamphetamines) with Intent to Distribute.

Strong is currently held at the Rapides Parish Detention Center with bail set at $5,000.00. The juveniles involved were safely released to other family members.

As this case progresses, it is important to remember that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
