Donaldsonville man convicted of murder recaptured after being set free following a six-year sentencing delay

Donaldsonville, LA (12/29/2022) – According to Sheriff Bobby Webre, on Wednesday, December 28, the U.S. Marshall’s Office recaptured and arrested Michael Leblanc at a location in New Orleans. Leblanc was convicted of second-degree murder in relation to a 2014 homicide in Donaldsonville. Further details will be forthcoming.

According to Sheriff Bobby Webre, detectives with the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office are actively searching for Michael Leblanc, 41, who was convicted of 2nd Degree Murder in relation to the homicide of Adoriji Wilson of Donaldsonville in 2014. Leblanc was arrested and booked into the Ascension Parish Jail, where he was incarcerated until 2017 when he was released to a neighboring parish’s sheriff’s office with a detainer since Leblanc was still waiting for sentencing for the 2nd-degree murder conviction.

During this investigation, detectives learned that Leblanc was sent to serve time in Catahoula Parish and later Madison Parish, where he completed his sentence for the Department of Corrections in May 2022. Leblanc, we transferred to Riverbend Detention Center in July of 2022 and ultimately released from that facility on November 30, 2022. Within the Last 24-hours, the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office received information that Leblanc was recently seen in Donaldsonville. Leblanc is a violent offender and is believed to be dangerous.
