Alexandria, LA (3/28/2023) – How does the Rapides Black political community move forward when nonsensical agendas occur?
Two events that will heavily affect the next political cycle in Rapides Parish (specifically Alexandria) are being held on the same day at the same time! Whoever planned and orchestrated this is obviously not the sharpest pencil in the box.
The supermajority of the Black voting block in this community is Democrat—no way around that. So please explain to the voters how, on the same day and time, the Rapides Democrats are having their executive meeting to discuss strategy and direction for the party as it relates to Rapides Parish, the Black politician who holds state office and stroke at the state level, and who happens to be democrats don’t want constituents attending the DPEC meeting.
No, they want you to come and hear them toot their horn on what is going on at the State level. There are concerns about ineffective representation at the state level; however, attention and focus need to be on what’s happening locally!! THE FACT REMAINS DISTRICT 26 has to be one of the single worst and most embarrassing districts in the state since the departure of former representative Israel “Bo” Curtis. The facts are no one at the state level has done anything of significance in Alexandria since Representative Curtis was in office.
We need all new leadership across the board!! State down! Anybody or any group telling you differently is misinformed and all about themselves. They actually take the voters as fools to continue and try to guide them down this same path we have been on for the last 20 years!
What you see when you walk out of your door is the results of Leadership from those who failed us in their political office over that time.
Citizens of this community are Fed up! And we will not continue to sit by idly as all of you try to continue to fool the people!
It seems that the elected official, who happens to be a democrat, would be present at the Democratic Executive meeting. This is not the first time this same structure impacted the community. During the fall, there was an Alexandria Mayoral forum scheduled at the same time as a Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus Road Show.
DPEC will hold a public meeting tonight at Zion Hill, while the Urban League of Louisiana, in conjunction with the Louisiana Black Caucus, has also scheduled a meeting at the same time. Why try to use the costume of The Urban League and the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus as something black folks should be attending instead of coming to hear black and white Democrats in Rapides tell the truth about their lack of leadership? That faction of the Old Blackguard, along with this reincarnation of the Roy Administration, is why we are here.
