Alexandria, La. (9/1/2022) – At a time when the effectiveness of APD in our community is questioned, and the communication or lack thereof as it relates to policing is being questioned; the Police Union decides to hold a closed “to the public” mayoral candidate forum just for the police and its voting members.
While we greatly appreciate the needs and questions that the officers may want to address, they are a part of our community. Anything involving those that protect the citizens in Alexandria should be open to the public.
We need transparency. We need the Alexandria Police Department and its members to be open and honest about their intentions and what they want to see from a new mayor.
Hopefully, when the new administration or current administration gets elected, they will understand the importance of being open and honest, and transparent with the community.
