Akers, LA (7/3/2023) – The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office (TPSO) reported a train crash in which a female pedestrian was struck and killed.
A spokesperson with TPSO said 47-year-old Sybil Henry of Baker, La, was struck by a train late Sunday, July 2, 2023, as the train passed through Akers (Manchac) just before 6:30 PM.
For reasons still under investigation, Henry ended up on the tracks. The train tried to hit the brakes but could not come to a stop before striking Henry, who succumbed to her injuries.
