Hawaii man arrested for first-degree rape

Alexandria, La. (10/27/2022) – A Hawaii man was arrested for first-degree rape and failure to register as a sex offender by the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office (RPSO)

On October 12, 2022, the RPSO Sex Offender Registry received information that a possible Sex Offender was in violation in the Alexandria area.  The Detective assigned to the Sex Offender Registration Section began his investigation on the suspect.

Renato Ponce Cachola, 57, of Kahului, Hawaii was identified as the suspect.

Cachola was allegedly attempting to bring a subject back with him to Hawaii. It was determined the subject was possibly a victim of sexual crimes.  Detectives obtained a warrant for Cachola for Failure to Register/Report as a Sex Offender. He was located, placed under arrest, and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center with a $5,000 bond.

The investigation was then sent to the RPSO Special Victim’s Unit (SVU). With the help of the Children’s Advocacy Center, SVU Detectives developed probable cause. A warrant was obtained for the arrest of Cachola for one count of first-degree rape. Cachola was still in custody when the warrant was issued and was booked on the new charges. Cachola remains in the Rapides Parish Detention Center. Cachola is held on a $505,000 bond.

The investigation is ongoing, and further charges are expected as they are working with other agencies on this case.  If anyone has any information about this case, please get in touch with Detective Cali Philpot with RPSO SVU. The phone number is (318)473-6700.
