New Orleans, LA (4/26/2023) – The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) is investigating a homicide that occurred on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, in the 2700 block of Orleans Avenue in the First District.
At about 12:54 p.m., NOPD officers responded to a call of shots fired at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a female in a vehicle suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance, where she was pronounced deceased a short time later.
An unharmed two-year-old boy was also discovered in the vehicle’s back seat. He was turned over to relatives.
Investigators are gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident and a motive. No additional details are currently available.
The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the deceased victim and the official cause of death upon completing the autopsy and notification of the family.
