Alexandria woman arrested for accessory after the fact in the North Mall Drive Shooting; bond set at $50,000

Alexandria, LA (4/15/2023) – The Alexandria Police Department (APD) made a second arrest in a shooting on Saturday, February 25, 2023.  

On April 14, 2023, APD Detectives arrested Tiara D. Frank, 23, from Alexandria, LA, for one count of Accessory After the Fact to Attempted 2nd Degree Murder.  According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff’s Office inmate inquiry system Frank’s bond is set at $50,000.  

At approximately 5:06 pm on February 23, 2023, APD was dispatched to a local residence about someone being shot at while driving on North Mall Drive.  Upon Officers’ arrival, they spoke to the victims, a 21-year-old male and a 16-year-old male from Alexandria, LA, who stated they were driving on North Mall Drive at its intersection with North Boulevard when the occupants of a white sedan fired upon them.  After firing several shots, the suspects in the white sedan drove away.      

Alexandria Detectives identified a suspect in the shooting and arrested 19-year-old male Calvin Armstead from Alexandria, LA.  Armstead was charged with two counts of Attempted 2nd Degree Murder shortly after the shooting.

Accessories after the fact 
An accessory after the fact is any person who, after the commission of a felony, shall harbor, conceal, or aid the offender, knowing or having reasonable ground to believe that he has committed the felony, and with the intent that he may avoid or escape from arrest, trial, conviction, or punishment.  
An accessory after the fact may be tried and punished, notwithstanding the fact that the principal felon may not have been arrested, tried, convicted, or amenable to justice.  
Whoever becomes an accessory after the fact shall be fined not more than five hundred dollars, or imprisoned, with or without hard labor, for not more than five years, or both; provided that in no case shall his punishment be greater than one-half of the maximum provided by law for a principal offender.  This is currently an ongoing investigation.
